By creating an account, browsing listings, making a booking, or listing a vehicle on ZimTravelBook, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and all policies referenced within them, including our Privacy Policy, Cancellation Policy, and Cookie Policy.
If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use ZimTravelBook. These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and ZimTravelBook (Pvt) Ltd.
ZimTravelBook is a peer-to-peer car hire marketplace. We connect individual car owners ("owners") with individuals seeking to hire vehicles ("renters"). ZimTravelBook is not a car hire company. We do not own, operate, or insure any of the vehicles listed on the platform.
ZimTravelBook acts as an intermediary — facilitating bookings, processing payments, providing communication tools, and offering dispute resolution. The rental agreement for each booking is between the renter and the owner. ZimTravelBook is not a party to that rental agreement but may enforce platform rules in relation to it.
To make a booking or list a vehicle you must create a ZimTravelBook account. You agree to provide accurate, complete, and current information at registration and to keep your account information up to date.
To use ZimTravelBook as a renter you must:
To use ZimTravelBook as an owner you must:
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must notify ZimTravelBook immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
As a renter you agree to:
As an owner you agree to:
All payments must be made through ZimTravelBook's platform using the payment methods provided. Direct payment between renter and owner outside the platform is prohibited and voids the booking's protection under these terms.
Platform fee: A 10% platform fee is charged to the renter on every booking. This fee is non-refundable except in the case of owner cancellation or exceptional circumstances at ZimTravelBook's discretion.
Owner commission: ZimTravelBook deducts a 15% commission from the owner's payout on each completed booking. The owner receives 85% of the booking subtotal.
Optional fees: Airport delivery, driver, excess kilometre, and cleaning fees may be set by owners and must be disclosed on the listing. No additional fees may be charged after a booking is confirmed beyond what was disclosed at checkout.
Security deposit: A refundable security deposit is required on all bookings. It is held by ZimTravelBook and released within 3–5 business days after successful return confirmation, subject to any agreed deductions for damage, fuel shortfall, or excess kilometres.
Owner payouts are released within 1–2 business days after the renter confirms return and ZimTravelBook confirms no disputes are pending.
All requests to extend a booking must be made through the ZimTravelBook platform. Extensions may not be arranged directly between renter and owner.
Extension requests must be submitted and paid for before the original booking return date and time. Insurance coverage from the owner's policy applies to the extension period only if the extension is confirmed and paid through the platform before the original return time.
A 2-hour grace period applies to returns — no overdue charge is applied for returns up to 2 hours after the scheduled return time. Returns beyond 2 hours without a confirmed extension are subject to an overdue rate equal to the owner's daily rate, applied pro-rata per day or part day.
Cancellations are governed by ZimTravelBook's Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these terms. All cancellations must be processed through the platform.
Completion of the digital vehicle condition checklist is mandatory for every booking, at both pickup and return. Both renter and owner must be present and must sign off on the checklist.
The checklist constitutes the agreed record of the vehicle's condition at each point. Damage noted at return that was not recorded at pickup may be charged to the renter. Damage present at pickup that is documented in the checklist may not be charged to the renter.
Failure to complete the checklist at pickup by either party does not remove the renter's liability for damage — but significantly weakens the evidence available to either party in a dispute. ZimTravelBook strongly advises both parties to complete the checklist thoroughly in all circumstances.
Owners are required to maintain comprehensive motor insurance on all listed vehicles at all times. This insurance covers the vehicle — not the renter personally.
Renters are responsible for their own personal accident and personal liability cover. ZimTravelBook does not provide insurance of any kind to renters.
Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs voids the vehicle's insurance coverage. Cross-border travel without prior approval voids the vehicle's insurance coverage for the period outside Zimbabwe unless the owner has confirmed cross-border cover with their insurer.
The following are strictly prohibited on ZimTravelBook:
Violation of any prohibition may result in immediate account suspension, forfeiture of any security deposit, and legal action where appropriate.
ZimTravelBook is a marketplace platform. We do not own, operate, or insure any vehicle listed on the platform. To the maximum extent permitted by Zimbabwean law, ZimTravelBook's liability in connection with any booking, accident, damage, loss, or claim arising from use of the platform is limited to the amount of platform fees paid by the relevant user in relation to the booking in question.
ZimTravelBook is not liable for: the condition, safety, or roadworthiness of any vehicle; personal injury or death arising from use of a vehicle; loss of or damage to personal belongings; or any indirect, consequential, or economic losses.
In the event of a dispute between a renter and an owner, both parties agree to first attempt resolution through ZimTravelBook's dispute resolution process. Contact ZimTravelBook at [email protected] with your booking reference and details of the dispute. ZimTravelBook will review available evidence — including the condition checklist, platform messages, and payment records — and provide a decision within 5 business days.
ZimTravelBook's decision in a dispute is final in relation to any deposit held by ZimTravelBook. Either party retains the right to pursue legal remedies independently of ZimTravelBook's dispute process.
ZimTravelBook reserves the right to suspend or terminate any account at any time for violation of these terms, fraudulent activity, or behaviour that threatens the safety or integrity of the platform. Users may close their account at any time by contacting [email protected]. Closure does not affect any obligations or liabilities arising before the date of closure.
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Zimbabwe. Any disputes arising from these terms or use of the ZimTravelBook platform are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Zimbabwe.
ZimTravelBook may update these Terms of Service at any time. Registered users will be notified of material changes by email. Continued use of the platform after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. The version in effect at the time of a booking governs that booking.
Questions about these terms should be directed to [email protected].
