Simple process

How airport delivery works

Airport delivery is offered by individual owners at their discretion. When an owner enables airport delivery on their listing, you'll see the ✈ Airport delivery badge on their car card and listing page. Here's how the process works from booking to keys.

Filter for airport delivery

On the Browse Cars page tick "Airport delivery" in the filters. Only listings that offer delivery will show.

Book and provide flight details

During booking, select airport delivery and enter your flight number, arrival terminal, and estimated landing time.

Pay and confirm

Pay via Remitly, Paynow or EcoCash. The airport delivery fee is included in your total. Owner is notified and confirms delivery details through the platform.

Collect at arrivals

Owner or their representative meets you at the agreed arrivals point. Complete the condition checklist together and you're on your way.

What you need to provide

Information needed at booking

When selecting airport delivery during your booking, you will be asked to provide the following details. Having these ready speeds up the process and helps the owner plan accurately.

Flight number

Your full flight number including airline code — e.g. BA4321, QZ7801. Used to track your arrival in real time.

Scheduled arrival time

Your scheduled landing time in Zimbabwe time (CAT — UTC+2). The owner tracks your flight for delays automatically.

Arrival terminal

International arrivals terminal. Most Zimbabwean airports have a single international arrivals hall — confirm with the owner if unsure.

📞

Zimbabwe contact number

A number the owner can reach you on if there is any issue at pickup. This can be a roaming number or a local SIM you plan to use.

All communication with the owner goes through ZimTravelBook's platform inbox — not personal WhatsApp or phone. The contact number you provide is only for genuine on-the-day emergencies such as a missed meet or a flight diversion.

The three airports

Airport-specific information

Each airport has its own arrivals layout and meeting point conventions. Here's what to expect at each one.

Meeting point — International arrivals hall, outside customs exit. Owner will hold a sign with your name.

Vehicle handover — Short-term car park directly outside the arrivals terminal. Checklist completed there.

Facilities at airport — ATMs, currency exchange, SIM card vendors, and food outlets in arrivals.

Connectivity — Econet and NetOne SIM cards available at the airport. Buy one before you exit if you need local data.

Tip: Harare immigration and customs can take 30–60 minutes during peak arrivals. Let your owner know your flight number so they can track your progress and time the handover well.

Victoria Falls International

Victoria Falls · 4km from town centre

Meeting point — Arrivals forecourt outside the single terminal building. Owner will be waiting near the exit.

Vehicle handover — Small car park adjacent to the terminal. Very close — quick and easy handover.

Popular use case — Most renters here are heading to hotels in town, the Falls, or safari camps. Self-drive is ideal for the region.

Connectivity — Limited SIM vendors at VFA. Purchase a local SIM at your hotel or in town if needed.

Tip: Victoria Falls is a small, easy airport. Arrivals are quick. Give your owner at least 30 minutes from your scheduled landing time to be safe.

BYO

Bulawayo · 24km from city centre

Meeting point — Arrivals exit, main terminal building. Owner will hold a ZimTravelBook sign with your name.

Vehicle handover — Car park in front of the terminal. Note: Bulawayo airport is 24km from the city — a longer drive than Harare or Vic Falls.

Availability note — Fewer flights serve BYO than HRE or VFA. Confirm your owner can meet your specific arrival time when booking.

Road to town — Good tarmac road into the city. Allow 30–40 minutes to central Bulawayo from the airport.

Tip: Bulawayo has fewer international arrivals than Harare. Message your owner through the platform a few days before to confirm the delivery arrangement is on track.

Fees and pricing

How the airport delivery fee works

The airport delivery fee is set by each owner individually. It is not a ZimTravelBook fee — it is the owner's charge for their time and fuel to travel to the airport and wait for your arrival. The fee varies by airport and owner.

Not applied

The airport delivery fee is shown on the listing and at checkout before you confirm. It is a one-time fee per booking — not per day. It covers the owner delivering the car to you at arrival. Return drop-off is at the owner's agreed location, not necessarily the airport, unless the owner has also agreed to airport return.

Flight delays

What happens if your flight is delayed

Flight delays are common, especially on long-haul routes. ZimTravelBook's airport delivery policy is designed to handle delays fairly for both renters and owners.

Up to 2 hours delay — no extra charge

The owner tracks your flight number and adjusts their arrival time accordingly. Delays of up to 2 hours are covered within the airport delivery fee — no additional charge to you or the owner.

Delay over 2 hours — contact owner through platform

If your flight is delayed by more than 2 hours, message the owner through the ZimTravelBook platform inbox as soon as you know. The owner may need to reschedule the delivery time. A small additional waiting fee may apply — agreed through the platform.

Missed connection or diverted flight

If your flight is cancelled, diverted, or you miss a connection and your arrival date changes, contact ZimTravelBook immediately through the platform. We will coordinate with the owner to reschedule your delivery or, if necessary, process a rebooking for your new dates.

Late night arrivals

Some owners are comfortable with late night deliveries, others are not. Check the owner's listing or message them through the platform before booking if you have a late arrival — typically after 10pm CAT. Confirm they can accommodate your arrival time before completing your booking.

Always provide your real flight number at booking — not an estimated time. The owner uses your flight number to track your arrival in real time. If you enter an estimated time instead of a flight number, the owner cannot track delays and may arrive too early or too late.

Day of arrival

What to expect on the day

Here is exactly what happens from the moment you land to the moment you drive away.

✓ Owner is tracking your flight and will be at the agreed meeting point by your scheduled or updated arrival time

✓ Owner holds a sign or board with your name — look for it as you exit customs

✓ Owner introduces themselves and verifies your name and booking reference

✓ You walk to the vehicle together — usually in the short-term car park near arrivals

✓ Digital condition checklist is completed together — 6 photos, existing damage noted, both parties sign

✓ Owner confirms fuel is full and points out anything specific to the vehicle

✓ Keys handed over — you drive away

✓ If anything seems wrong with the vehicle, raise it immediately and message ZimTravelBook through the platform before driving away

Bring your driver's licence and passport to the handover. The owner will verify your identity before handing over the keys. Diaspora visitors should bring both their home-country licence and their passport.

If airport delivery is not available

What to do if no delivery is available for your arrival

Not every listing offers airport delivery — and occasionally the listing you want may not have this option. Here are your alternatives.

Message the owner directly

Use the platform inbox to ask the owner if they can arrange delivery for your dates even if it's not listed. Many owners will accommodate this for a reasonable fee — agree and confirm it through the platform.

Take a taxi from the airport

Pick up from the owner's location the next morning after a night's rest. ZUPCO registered taxis are available at all three airports. Agree a pickup location with the owner through the platform for the following day.

Browse other listings

Filter Browse Cars by your city and tick "Airport delivery" to see all listings that offer it. There may be a comparable vehicle from a different owner who can meet you at arrivals.
